Unusual Sights and Pan Am

Writer: Mel DickMel Dick

Key West is lake no other place I've ever been. As I have said before, it full of character and characters. It also has what seems like an unlimited number of unusual sights throughout the city. Around every corner there seems to be something different and unexpected...many of which you would never see from a car or on a bike. Above are several of the unusual sights from today. Also a picture of some of the many shrimp boats that ply the waters for Key West "Pink Shrimp" that are popular in almost every restaurant in town.

Any one remember Pan Am Airlines? Did you know it started in Key West? Pan American World Airways, originally founded as Pan American Airways and commonly known as Pan Am, was the principal and largest international air carrier and unofficial flag carrier of the United States from 1927 until its collapse on December 4, 1991. It was founded in 1927 as a scheduled air mail and passenger service operating between Key West, Florida, and Havana, Cuba. It is credited for many innovations that shaped the international airline industry, including the widespread use of jet aircraft, jumbo jets, and computerized reservation systems.
