Riding Out The Storm

Writer: Mel DickMel Dick

After what seemed like weeks (it was actually only 12 days) we finally arrived at Tiffin Motor Homes Wayfarer RV factory service center in Winfield Alabama. This is day three at the service center. Factory recalls on the tow hitch and water tanks corrected and we needed to replace our door which hadn't worked from day one!!! It's in the paint shop today and tonight.

We have been staying in the parking lot of the service center riding out the massive storm that has been wreaking havoc along a 2000 mile stretch from Texas to the Midwest and Northeast. Luckily, we are just far enough South in Northwestern Alabama to avoid the snow and ice gripping much of the country West and North of us.

Traveled through Texas, Louisiana and Mississippi on our way here. Took a photo of one of Bo Diddley's guitars in a state of Mississippi rest stop. Diddley, born in Mississippi, is a member of the Rock and Roll Hall of Fame, The Blues Hall of Fame and the Rhythm and Blues Music Hall of Fame. He played a key role in the transition from Blues to Rock and Roll. He influenced many artists, including Buddy Holly, Elvis Presley, the Beatles, the Rolling Stones and many others.

Had a great cajun meal in Lafayette Louisiana last week and a had chance to meet up with friends and former residents of Sandpoint who now live in Oxford Mississippi.
