Big Climb, Big Descent

Day started with a 10 mile climb up Hoosier Pass out of Breckenridge Colorado...the highest point on the entire trip....It's all downhill from here. Then a slow 85 mile descent to Canon City Colorado with a fair amount of short steep climbs and headwinds. I had to get push my bike up an 18% grade! I'm getting sick of headwinds....tomorrow I head East into Eastern Colorado and Kansas...maybe the wind gods will be with me as I change directions from South/Southeast to due East. As I've ridden through Colorado it seems like everyone is building homes in the wilderness and there are a lot of properties for sale. Think the old log farmstead would make a great fixer upper for someone. Great wildflowers and Aspens today. Thanks to everyone that has commented on my posts and to all who have contributed to the ride causes.

P.S. Bob had a problem yesterday. His wheel fell off while crossing a street in Frisco Colorado! Not to worry, got it fixed and he's back on the road with me!

Mel -- You are totally amazing! Your blogs make me smile and laugh! Some great memories of corporate travel in luxury vs. riding a bike, although life does change and the bike is definitely a great view! Thanks for sharing this journey!

i am surprised by how many flat tires and wheel problems a bicycle can have! but i'm incredulous one can ride to 11,000 foot altitude, too.
